Let me off at the top!

I finished  the book Let me off at the Top! by Ron Burgundy and it has been amazing. There really is no plot to the book because it is just him talking about things in life and his past adventures. Like once in the story he talks about the history of Mexico and how the dinosaurs go into Mexico and terrorize  all the Mexicans. There was another story about how he thought that his neighbor had stolen his leaf blower so he went out and defecated on his neighbors car.

He said "Your car, I will defecate on"

 He had sent out some
embarrassing photos of him. Only to figure out that the leaf blower was in the corner of his garage. The story just keeps on going on like that with all of these crazy adventures and memories.

Then the story just ends with him summing it all up with telling everyone how great this book was and to stay classy. I loved reading this book and I recommend that everyone should read this book. Its getting the insight memories and adventures of Ron Burgundy summed up in 300 pages and its hilarious. It has a lot of comedy in it to so if you like that you will love the book even more. All in all if you haven't read this book you need to go get it and read it. You will see the way Ron Burgundy sees things is the best possible way to view the world.

During the story he tells the neighbor who he assumes to have his leaf blower. "I'm telling watch out Ron Burgundy will unleash his wrath". Just the way he talks in that sentence can tell you what kind of person he is and what he may do to his neighbors car. Which we later find out that he defecates on it and that also tells you what he's like. This book is related to the movie Anchorman that stars Will Ferrell so you can automatically read in his voice during the story. At a certain point he tells the kids" I will save your playground. I will help your souls. I will find the bad man doing this."Which makes it even more funny because the voice he uses in the movie is so stereotypical of a politician. So you can read in in that voice in the story and not read anything and take it sarcastically or misread it and get confused. Its one of the funniest books and I recommend you read it.

This is one of the best books ever written.

Rivers of Zaddaa

As you have seen by my last blog post I have finished the book Let me off At the Top By Ron Burgundy. I have been reading the next book in the Pendragon series The Rivers Of Zadaa. Its been a great book I'm half way through it and even though its like the eighth book in the series. By then you can usually get used to the writers style and what he does throughout the book but this one still has many twists and turns. At one point there is this really good paragraph that changes the whole journey of the Travelers. " We ha e beaten you 6 times and there are only ten territories we have all got them at the right turning point" Bobby said Saint Dane starts to smile " What!" Bobby shot back  " Bobby, My dear boy didn't you ever stop to think that destroying a territory and all its inhabitants was the way it was meant to be"

This really changes all the book. Bobby in books 1-7 because throughout all of those Bobby has tried to stop every territory from falling to crippling despair. He has lost his uncle and many friends and Travelers throughout the journey and made many sacrifices to even fight this battle like giving up his life on second earth. Bobby had an amazing life on second earth to here's a quote to show. " My name Bobby Pendragon I am the captain and Point guard for Quarelly High School, I have a sister Jessica a Mom and a Dad and not to brag but i am pretty popular at school I just need to get Courtney Chetnwynde to like me and life will be set". Later on like 2 pages later Courtney comes to Bobby's house and kisses him so he had a perfect life. He sacrificed all that to fight and save these territories and Saint Dane just told him he may be doing all of this wrong that had a big impact on him but he tried not to show it. " I was about to just take a deep breath and drop but I couldn't shoe any weakness to Saint Dane".

Anyway I am halfway through the book and I cant wait for any other surprises that come on the way to finishing it.

Pendragon

I am in the middle of the book Pendragon during this week and it is an amazing book to read. So far in the book Bobby has gone and found these people and they are called the Jakills and he has teamed up with the leader his name is Siry. I pronounce it like the IPhone Siri but it is probably meant to be said in a different way. So as Bobby and Siry make plans to leave Rayne and go to see if there are other places outside of the territory and to prove the leaders wrong. As they are going out to find other lands this boat comes out of this fog. Its not your average wooden pirate ship its like, grade A, military styled ship. So it shows that there are other forms of life that are out there.

Then out of nowhere this monstrous contraption comes out of the water and takes down the military ship before it could do any harm at Bobby and Sirys Ship. I think that the machine that helped Bobby as part of Rayne because they were not that far off the coast from Sirys home land. I predict that in the later chapters of the book that Bobby is going to find land outside of Rayne and that he will find other forms of life besides on Rayne. I also think that on that other piece of land he is going to find Saint  Dane and he is going to tell Bobby about the turning point and the bigger turning point that involves all the
territories. I guess we will just have to read and find out.

Columnist

I read the column See the hit, save the brain game plan at cautious UC by Krista Ramsey. This article is about people getting concussions. Then what people can do and are doing ( mostly at UC) to stop the overflowing numbers of concussions."The answer wasn't new helmets, new tackling techniques or even new coaching. At its simplest, it's about players seeing what's about to hit them.". This was one of the best lines that was written in the column. The effect that it had on the reader is that it shows you don't need all of this multi million dollar equipment to help people get less injuries in the sports that they are playing. They need to play better and see what is about to hit them. Also the way that it is written is very well it doesn't give your super long explanation how and why they need to fix it it just gets straight to the point and makes it fairly simple  to understand.

I also like how she built the line up with all these drastic measures like changing the coaching getting new helmets. Or Maybe even more equipment than that. Or even having to learn a new tackling technique . She just puts it as simple as players needing to know what's coming at them. She also does not insult anyone like she didn't call out a specific college or pro team for spending millions or for changing the coaches or tacking technique. She just states the mistakes bluntly and moves on with the article. Krista has a very good writing style that  can get the reader engaged into the story no matter what part in the writing it is in. From the concussion article the beginning grabs your attention "NFL players sustained 152 concussions during this year's regular season, including 11 for the two Super Bowl teams. The league itself is still staggering under the weight of a proposed $765 million concussion lawsuit settlement, which a judge says is probably inadequate to cover the projected 20,000 former players affected.".

Then in the Super Bowl QB's article about dressing nice."
Whatever magnificent things Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson do on the field Sunday at the Super Bowl, some of us appreciate what the two quarterbacks have done off the field all year. That is, helping to bring back the art of dressing well.". In the article about Kids Vision this quote could grab a parents attention instantaneously."
You see it all the time. Your teenager at the dinner table, waiting for his checkup at the orthodontist’s office, sauntering to his car – continually hunched over his smart phone or iPad.
You can’t help but worry what all that screen time is doing to his posture, social skills and grades.
But more and more experts are wondering what it’s doing to kids’ vision.". The way that she grabs the attention in the beginning is very good it gets the reader with these telegraphic sentences.

3 questions that I would ask is where are you getting all this inspiration to write about these certain things? When did you start to realize that you wanted to work for The Enquirer? How is your writing style so unique.

Technology

The book Fahrenheit 451 has a lot if questions that we need to ask ourself  while  reading the book. One of the main questions. To ask if we are  becoming Montags society. With the technology that we have today I say that maybe we aren't that far from it . Now I'm not saying that there is going to be all out war. But people today and there phones the obsession with them is kind if crazy.People become zombies when they are in there phones they just walks around texting or playing game on there phone oblivious to everything around them. It's kind if like how Mildred was addicted to to the parlor walls. It shows that how people say that is crazy I will never get addicted to a Tv show like that but they are already in that process with there phones. People can already see the dangers with phones texting and driving is a major one and people still keep on doing it. Soon enough we will be letting all these cool technological advancements in society pass that really  are hurting society. Not all "advancements" are good for society.

you have to take a step back and realize are you becoming that person.
Because if you are you probably should change what you are doing and actually look at the round yellow thing in the sky called the sun. People become very antisocial with the society that we are livng in today. Some just soend the whole weekend inside playing videogames or watching TV. Even thoguh Breaking Bad is an amazing show you have to take a break sooner or later and actually go outside and play with friends.

Real issues in books

One way that authors can show what they want to ridicule society is by making it a major or minor topic in their book. What Ray Bradbury does in this book along with many other things .Is he puts things that he thinks will put futuristic things in his book to mess with the society today. Like he puts these jet cars in the book that move very fast and that correlates with the 200 feet billboards. He shows that with this technology not jet cars but you know like smart phones and they wont know about the society around them. It is not going to be as extreme as then the government can take control of us and we wont know whats around us. Then you think to yourself oh i am  never going to get wrapped up in that stuff but it doesn't have to be technology it can be anything that you find really amusing like the parlor walls a sport or your a drone when you go to work. I think that is one of the best things that Bradbury does throughout the whole story.

Another thing that I loved that he had such a mind to think of these things that some people in this era have no intention of having these luxuries. Also how he makes Clarisse say that here is a man in the moon ans when Bradbury had written this book they were not even in the process of that even happening.Even today it is still a big leap to get to the moon because so many attempts have failed before. But to even think about it before the possibility has even been close to happening. I also like how he shows how Mildred is the final stage of what the government was trying to do to there citizens. Her mind is just destroyed and she is to distracted by the parlor walls. I also have a theory about the guys who pumped blood into Mildred. Just the night before that Mildred tried to commit suicide and then she gets her blood pumped back into her and she is all fine. I think that there is something that is int hat blood that gets the citizens back into the "regular" regime but not be totally cleared of the mind to see how terrible the society is.

Another big part of the story is Beatty how he has the paradox of being this guy who loves this job and understands the reason for burning the books. Then he provokes Montag to kill him because he hates the society that he is living in. I was pretty sure that he was reading books to because he would always tell Montag about how books were bad and then quotes books. Then how he provokes Montag to go and kill him. It shows that even that the most " motivated fireman " wanted to escape society. All in all this is an amazign book and all of you reading it should read Farenheit 451 .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBkJjHVeqow

Final Blog

Blog Reflection
I think that this trimester’s blogging experience has really made me grow as an individual, reader and a writer. I surpassed my goal of reading 3 books this trimester I read 5 books and they were all fantastic. The best one had to be Let Me off at the Top Ron Burgundy and it was hilarious I suggest that you read it sometime. Being on Good reads has really helped me look into more books that I loved reading. It was kind of like when I was in the 4th grade and my teacher would always read us books after recess. I didn’t know what it was but I always loved those books that she was reading, so the next day I would go to the library and get that book and finish it. Good Reads is like that because I can see what books people are reading and if it looks good to me, I read it. I had some struggles while blogging and it was essential that I got over them to make better blogs. One of the weaknesses that I had was citing the text for statements I had made. Like I would be writing in my blog all these huge acclamations about my book and the characters personality. Or what was going to happen later then I wouldn’t even cite what evidence I had to show that. So over the trimester I started to put in more quotes from the books that I was reading and started to back up my statements a lot better than before. One thing that I had done strong over the trimester was summarizing and making connections to the books that I was Reading. I could summarize and make a lot of connections in the chapters I had read and give you an amazing overview of all the things that were in my chapter. I feel that the quality of my writing has really improved from the beginning of the trimester up to now. As you can see I have my first blog that was about Catching Fire. Then I have my very last blog Let me off at the top. Looking at these two blogs has shown me how much I have changed as a writer. I see the first blog as being very sloppy to start with I had a lot of grammar issues. I didn’t capitalize Finnick’s name for starters. I spelled characterization wrong which I still don’t know how that happened. “I mean some stuff had happened there but in my opinion don't really think it was as suspense full as it was in the arena” that quote from Catching Fire Blog. Using the word stuff was a big mistake and that isn’t going to happen again. In that sentence The I wasn’t capitalized in the original blog post and I’m definitely sure the suspenseful is one word. That sentence had an abundance of mistakes in it and the rest of the paragraph is even worse. I had no textual evidence in my first blog that any of this was even true if I couldn’t even cite it in my blog that was terrible.  The part that really made me want to go back and punch myself straight in the face was the closing. “So the reasons I like this book are the action suspense and the imagery.” I mean are you serious that is the worst thing I have ever seen how do you end a blog with that. There wasn’t even a comma between action and suspense, so that just makes it even better. How do you start a sentence with so I mean if I looked at this I would have though a 6th grader had written this. Now time to stop hating on myself this much, it is time to go on to my next blog.
